Gynecomastia, Is Surgery An Option?
As the most common reason for male breast evaluation, the condition of Gynecomastia has become a probable cause for surgical procedures amongst males. Prevalent amongst infants, and adolescence, it is estimated that 60 to 90% of infants have some form of gynecomastia due to the high estrogen levels that are produced during pregnancy.
After infancy, puberty is the next age range where gynecomastia is prevalent. Usually regressing within 18 months, 10-12 year old boys are most susceptible to the condition. Once the condition has been contracted in older males, there are various medications that they can take, on top of choosing to go with the surgery.
